You remind me

It’s an inkblot world -  a Rorschach test
You make your way, you try the best you can
You remind me who I am

Brooooooooooce!

Yesterday was a good day for two special reasons 1) Hubert's birthday and 2) Bruce!

I'm not going to attempt to write a review of the night (actually writing about music irks me considerably, it's near impossible to do well), so anyone interested would do well to read this instead.  This was my first time seeing Bruce live, as I couldn't go last time he toured (which was a long time ago).  I hope it's not my last time...come back soon Bruce, we love you.

The good thing...

...about having a blog that no-one but me reads is that I can be as self-indulgent as I like. So here's a pic of Amanda Palmer. Yeah.
(I can't find the source of this one though. Anyone knows, please let me know and I'll credit.)

Lost

I know this blog seems to be all about AFP all the time, but I just can't help it at the moment. I really like the lyrics to this song.

Post title

So here I was, trying to find the login details for my other blog - yes the blog I'd started last year as I couldn't remember the login for this one - and I find that my primary email is linked to this blog...the blog I couldn't find in the first place. Argh!
I still can't remember the address of the other blog I'd started, and foolishly changed it to a compromise name (all the other ones I wanted were taken)...so when I do find it, I'll import everything and kill it off I think.

Although, I'm not the killing type...not the killing type...

Update- I finally found this blog again, so have imported all my other posts into it. Ah! Order.

Death paste

death paste, originally uploaded by crafty & devious.

Oh no I didn't make this. But it is pure awesomeness!
More so if you're familar with this song:

PS. I quite like Vegemite...but only a thin scrape, with butter, and I have to be in the mood.

The Clarke Sisters

The afternoon world, the bees have stung the softball girls.
The midnight world, the crystal ball down the wooden hall.
The treehouse stands, their early childhood, were treehouse plans.
And right above,

The Clarke Sisters, handed down to love.
Handed down to love. Handed down to love.

More love

Went to see this fella last night. Most of Australia have no idea who he is, but I seriously adore him.
Apart from being a great songwriter, singer and musician, he engages with the audience in a way I've never encountered before. I went to get an autograph after the show (Hubert had to push me to, I was too shy) and I'm sure I babbled something non-sensical to him, although I do remember shaking his hand and telling him he should move himself and his elderly parents to Australia.
Seriously who could not love a guy that:
- tells you stories about how his Hawthorn beanie started a fight at a Geelong gig, resulting in someone's tit flying out of their top
- sings you a song called "Hand Job on the Church Bus" and gets you to join in with singing and gestures during the chorus
- nipple rubs an audience member
- plays poems and songs from his iphone that his 81 year dad has sent him
and
- makes us all hug our neighbour during the final song.
Love the Poltz.

Head full of doubt/road full of promise

There’s a darkness upon me that’s flooded in light
In the fine print they tell me what’s wrong and what’s right
And it comes in black and it comes in white
And I’m frightened by those that don’t see it

When nothing is owed or deserved or expected
And your life doesn’t change by the man that’s elected
If you’re loved by someone, you’re never rejected
Decide what to be and go be it

There was a dream and one day I could see it
Like a bird in a cage I broke in and demanded that somebody free it
And there was a kid with a head full of doubt
So I’ll scream til I die and the last of those bad thoughts are finally out

There’s a darkness upon you that’s flooded in light
And in the fine print they tell you what’s wrong and what’s right
And it flies by day and it flies by night
And I’m frightened by those that don’t see it

This is heaven

A song by the Mummers (one of my new fave bands of 2009) set to some groovy Barbarella clips. Yay.
